Glendale Peak Trail Head (Happy Hiking!)

Now is a great time to get out into nature (Avoid those crowds), Especially after the rains we've been having. I have a feeling this year we will witness another super bloom! There are so many places to see colorful poppies, cherry / plum / orange blossom trees, and wild flowers. One of them being Death Valley, and I can't wait! (Yes, we will make a trip there soon and I promise to blog about it, include beautiful pictures). But I digress! This particular post is about the awesome new trail I discovered (thanks to a friend that is), in Glendale, outside of the Griffith Park Observatory. 

Once again, I don't know how I've lived in LA County for so long, with so many amazing places yet to disover. The Glendale Peak Trail is located across from the Greek Theater (great outdoor venue where we saw Linsey Sterling perform). You will find a massive and free parking lot situated directly across from the trail on Vermont Canyon Rd. Do not be discouraged by the intimidating hill you will encounter right off the bat. I do encourage you to do a short warm up ahead of time. AND to go before it gets to be too hot. It was 64 degrees with a gentle breeze, cooler at the top (when we visited). Once you tackle that first hill you will have your first stunning view of the city, as well as a much easier hike towards the top most viewing area. By the time you encounter your next steepish climb your body will be warmed up, so no problema.

Views of the golfcourse (pic to the right). I was excited to find a hidden tennis facility (seen from the trail), that is open to the public! I can't wait to play there some day.

Once you arrive at the topmost viewing point of the trail, Vista View Point, it will all have been worth it. You will see the observatory with a trail you think may be accessible. (It will not lead you to the observatory) Continue left on this picturesque loop, towards a picnic area with more lovely views (two picnic tables and water fountains (one for your fur babies). The second part of the trail is easy, mainly down hill, lots of green vistas, including a semi-hidden (unseen from trail, accidentally found), lover's vista, Sweetpea's Retreat. (Blog continued below)



                       
Ascend a slight hill and take in the ocean views.


Continue downhill and you will happen directly upon the Vermont Canyon Tennis Facility. Such a cool place, surrounded by greenary, quiet, and relatively available. (Blog continued below).

Continue to your right. You will come to a fork in the road, a lot of people heading your way from  the left fork. Stay to the right and continue down towards Vermont Canyon Rd. You will see a play ground and picnic tables on the right hand side. Continue right to the parking lot and have a great rest of the day! Color Street Nail Polish Strips

I wasn't expecting to like Color Street Nail polish strips as much as I do. If you've never heard of Color Street, they consist of real nail polish in a dry strip form. They are long lasting, durable, and come in  many beautiful and fun designs, for all seasons. For a long period of time I couldn't live without going to the salon once every three weeks to a month, to get my nails done. At first I sported acrylics, then switched to gel nails. Outdoor Fun For The Whole Family: Bike Riding and Swan Boat Rentals, Lake Balboa (Encino) and Echo Lake (Los Angeles)

Lake Balboa, encino Echo lake, los angeles Did you know there are plenty of bike paths leading to and from Lake Balboa park? And the best part? You don't need to own a bike to enjoy them. This is my second favorite time of the year, Fall, when the trees are beginning to change color. Brilliant orange, red and yellow colors grace the landscape. The weather is perfect, sunny, with a slight breeze (most of the time). Feel like bike riding now?, Inside the park resides "Wheel Fun Rentals". No reservation is required, and you are free to ride outside of the park. My favorite bike path is the one that takes you around the outside of the park, in a complete circle. It affords you beautiful views of the golf course, hills, mountains, and tree lined streets.
